    67 corvette original options/history

I recently purchased a 67 corvette convertable with no original paperwork. I would like to find out the options that this vehicle was ordered with along with some history. I purchased the NCRS shipping order paperwork and found that the vehicle had a production date of March 14, 1967, was built in St Louis and delivered to Trinity Chevrolet in Youngstown, Ohio which is no longer in business. Where do I begin ???

PREVIOUS owners is the best way to search out history. Also, there is what they call the tank sticker, which is a build slip from the factory that had all the options on it. Have you joined a local NCRS Chapter and had other members inspect the car? It will be a fun lesson on what is discovered, but not always a pleasant experience, in that some things may be discovered that you had no clue existed prior to today.

        Re: 67 corvette original options/history

Hello Tim, welcome to the TDB.

One thing is easy. Look at the trim tag, it will have the original color of the car and the type and color of the intierior. The next easy thing is the tank sticker if it is still on the tank. Jim's picture shows where it is. Other than these two things, it will take some detective work and other knowledgeable members are good at this. However, without any paperwork some things like day/night mirrors and teak wheels can never be confirmed.

If it's any consolation, I've found that options are usually changed or removed if there is a lot of customization or if it's been bubbafied. If bubba's been into it there is usually a lot of evidence as to what was there origninally.

          Welcome Tim:

As previously mentioned, all 67's had a tank sticker when they left the factory but there are many reasons why it may be gone. You should be able to remove the rubber ring around the fuel inlet. It is easily replaced. Once out of the way use a small light and look inside and see if you can see any paper stuck to the top of the gas tank. Usually, it will be on the driver side of the tank. If it is there, then you will need to drop the gas tank to review it. It is pot luck as to how readable it will be but in many cases it will reveal what you are asking about, options, build date and other valuable information. Hers's hoping it is there for you. If so, ask for further advice about dropping the tank and how to either remove the sticker or photograph it. CAUTION must be used if removed. Good luck on the search!

          Bob

Paul - Please note that all 67s had the day/night mirror, although there were 2 designs depending on the build date; but no teak wheels from the factory. Pete

Fellows; Thanks for all of your responses, much appreciated. The previous owner performed a frame off restoration of the vehicle and unfortunately the tank sticker was not there. I am aware of the two Pennsylvania owners prior to me but can not get info on the original owner of the vehicle from Ohio. As Paul had indicated in his thread I will have to continue my detective work !!!!

                Tim,

I would recommend looking up Tom Hendricks on this board. He can help you track down history.

As far as decoding your trim tag goes, try this:

Please keep in mind that the birthdat calculator is an ESTIMATE. If you want the exact birth date of your car, you'd need to request a shipping data form here => https://www.ncrs.org/services.php

Thanks Pete, I'll note those things. It was just an example, but I could have been more accurate.
