Power Steering Control Valve Rebuild

Happy New Years to Everyone!!
I am rebuilding the control valves for both of my cars(65 coupe and 71 Roadster). I have read lots of threads and arcticles but the one thing I am still unsure about is when assembling the valve how much grease to use as most articles are saying not to grease the valve through the zerc fitting once finished. Should you put some grease in the cavity behind the ball stud assembly before putting it in or just liberally grease everything? Thanks in advance.

Grease the adapter end (the end with the ball stud) prior to assembling it to the valve end. The primary problem caused by greasing is the result of pressure greasing the assembly (i.e. on-car greasing). This sort of greasing can force grease past the seals and into the valve end.
