Think I found the problem- secondary float didn't float-was full of gas-had a hole somewhere, I think along solder line, even though carb was new. Should have checked this first, common things being common, or "When you hear hoofbeats, think of horses, not zebras."

put the float in boiling water and the bubbles will show the leak. boil out the gas and resolder the hole shut. don't use any of your wives good pots to do this.

If you use your wife's good pots, make sure she is away on a trip.

i did this when she was away but i could not get the gasoline smell out of the aluminum pot.

The hell with the old one. I bought a new one that does float for 11 bucks.One reason I didn't suspect the float first is that it's a new carb bought from Holley's OEM carb distributor.

You ought to file a complaint with Holley or the distributor. It is just not right to have a defective float in a new carb.

Unfortunately, it's out of warranty-I bought the carb new, but just over a year ago and couldn't believe my flooding was caused by a brand new carb till I found out it was the bad float all along. Hope my experience will help others.
