Anybody use PS auto glass for date coded midyear windshield?

Has anyone had any experiences with PS Auto Glass as a choice of supplier for a date coded replacement windshield for a 63-67 recently? Any comments?

    Thanks!

If you're referencing PS Auto Glass in Janesville WI ... yes, they did my '66 tinted windshield recently with date coded replacement. I was very pleased with the results, their service and the price. Paul made two trips to the painter's shop -- one to take the old windshield out after body was stripped and a second trip some months later to install the new windshield after the color was on the car. I highly recommend them & as do the 'locals' in south-central WI. Had them do all the removal and install of the reveal molding and pillar garnish after it was polished. Fit is excellent. They do their own acid etch and have an interesting process & all fonts. Email or PM if you want more detail or pics, etc.

      Jeff,
Thanks for the reply. That is who I am asking about. Although I am in Conn. , I did not know they were also "hands on"

I knew them only as a distributor

They used to sell a lot on the e and on line as a much lower cost alternative to the other supplier we all knew,

I bought a couple of date coded windshields from them a few years ago and was very happy with the quality of the glass, especially the optics. I found lots of optic problems with other products, One was so bad when looking over to the right thru the glass from the drivers seat, on an angle if you will, you could get dizzy. It was if you were looking on an angle into a fish tank.

      I want to avoid that.

I am placing an order for 4 1967 tinted windshields so have a bit of leverage on cost and shipping, they are very competitive but if the current product they are offering is a problem, well, nobody is gonna be happy!

The date coding was as good as any other as I remember and although nice to have if I have the option, none of them are correct, but then the entire tinted windshield is not either. So I am more concerned with quality of glass and was hoping some other members had purchased from them recently and could comment on it.

I will be stopping by there sometime next week ... perhaps as early as Monday. Let me know if there's anything you'd like me to check on in person.

Make sure they are using a correct etching for your manufacturer and date code markings. Ask for a sample before you buy.

                  Bill,
I used PS (about three years ago) and was not happy at all with the quality of the etching. See below for a comparison of an original (left) vs the reproduction (right). The lettering on the repro is way too thick. PS also etched in a "DOT" (which I did not request) on the repro, which may or may not be a current requirement. In addition, the entire etching was set cockeyed on the windshield. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to make the comparison until the windshield had been installed. Otherwise, it would have gone back.
                  Good luck,
                  Jeff
