54 shifter spacer?

Is there supposed to be a spacer behind the chrome shifter bell??? Thanks as always

Well, Mary Joe has a "spacer" for sell but in nolands book I dont see it. Hers looks to be about 1/8" thick with the same bolt pattern. Im confused as if there is this thing under there or just a washer under the bell. Im putting the shifter together and have the "specill washer" for the spring but Im not sure if there is another "special washer under the bell. I believe I have everything for the shifter assembly but this spacer deal has me confused. Im also trying to figure out the mounting bolts, looks like tapered screws, not sure of the size. There is a chrome plate that goes on top of the carpet and the edge of the bell fits inside of a lip on this ring. If you provide me your fax number I can fax you an exploded view of the entire shifter machanism from acorn nut to cotter pin at the tranny.
