    1962 Driveshaft Question

Thought I'd find the answer in the archives, but didn't...or couldn't.

Can someone tell me what color the driveshaft should be...natural...or black gloss...semi-gloss??
And in what general location would 3712377 be stenciled?

As always, your help is much obliged.

Thanks, Jerry...I have that list but "driveshaft" does not appear on it, that I can find. Maybe I've overlooked it but I don't think so.

          Bill,

From my 1960. Don't know if 62 were different, probably not.

The picture is taken with the front of the driveshaft to the right.

            Ray and Tom

The pdf file is extremely helpful, not just with the driveshaft issue but with my entire project.

I conclude from studying pages 136, 139, 146 and 153, and enlarging Tom's photo, that the final assembled Vette would indeed have a black driveshaft...that the drive shaft may have received the stencil prior to being painted black or after the black paint was applied and that stencil may or may not appear, or only partially appear, depending upon it positioning during the subsequent application of black-out. Sound about right?

Thanks so much for the help.

Ray & Tom, That photo is priceless - does the paint appear to go to the ends of the driveshaft & universal joints?

Dan that post was over six years ago. Ray Carney has moved on to other interests. The Western NY Chapter has disbanded and is now defunct. Haven't seen Dennis at Nationals and Regionals for a while. As I understand it he is busy furthering his education.
