Re: Anyone know numbers for Replacement Transistors for TI Units
HellO Louis,
I went down that road many years ago. A real good cross is not availible. And originals are very hard to find. I would reccomend that you try the solid state replacement board that is sold in the driveline. This will allow you to use any coil and the reliability is far superior to the original. The original has problems that if the charging circuit is not really up to snuff than you have low starting voltage and can be hard to start and also if you accidently turn over the motor with a plug wire removed than you will fry the transistor in the amplifier. The same person that sells the solid state modules may have transistors if you really want to go that route. As for me I have hidden under the ignition shielding attached to a block of aluminum an ignition module out of a late model HEI unit this works just fine and is nearly undetectable unless you trace out the wireing. IF you wanted to go that route I can send a simple wireing diagram.
Good Luck,

Re: Anyone know numbers for Replacement Transistors for TI Units
And naturally the first problem is it's a germanium transistor. Back in the late 60's I would use the power amp transistor from a GM radio, never checked the characteristics of the two transistors - just plugged in & it worked (most times) After that went to MSD until 2004 when I made the car stock again. Just purchased the solid state replacement board, works great!- Top

I have purchased a new board and while my old one works I have it as a back up. Problem is I also have several old boards that I would like to get working again.. Hense the question on the replacement parts.- Top
