The original vacuum control for your application was GM #1116236 which is long-since GM discontinued. The current replacement for that part is GM #88924985, aka Delco #D1312C. It's also available under NAPA/Echlin # VC-1810. Either way, it will be stamped "B28".

Joe, I just called NAPA to check on the VC-1810. No longer available from NAPA.
It wouldn't hurt for your or someone else to check with NAPA also to confirm this. John

        it's readily available at GMPARTSDIRECT.com
punch in the gm# of 88924985 and they have it in stock and available. cost is $6.26 plus shipping.

I had heard rumors a few years back this item was going to be discontinued so I ordered a few extras to keep on the shelf in case I needed a replacement for my '65 L76. like most rumors it was obviously false since the item is still available

Other brands are Niehoff, Standard, and others. Whatever brand you buy, it's the same part made by Standard. Part numbers on the box are unique to each brand, but the stamped ID number should be the same.

Check all new VACs for proper start and full vacuum points as there are reports that some are significantly out of spec.

To add further to the last point that Duke just made, other than GMpartsdirect, I'd be cautious about buying through the mail. If possible, buy from a supplier that will let you check the item with your Mityvac at the couter. Buying by mail may find you sending several back before you get one good one or just giving up. That was my experience.

If you are looking for accuracy, the current Delco part may not have the proper stampings, as they are currently outsourced by AC/Delco to a "low bidder" GM/AC-Delco is largely out of the parts manufacturing business.

The current Delco part definitely does not have correct stampings. It's a piece manufactured by Standard Motor Products and will be stamped "B28". As far as I know, Standard Motor Products is the only manufacturing source for these controls. So, regardless of what brand one buys, the part inside is the same. Fortunately, their overall configuration aside from stampings is VERY close to most originals and they usually perform fine.

I have a 1964 L76. My local parts store sold me a Standard T Series VC24AT vacuum advance. It has a stamp of B1 on it. Based on what I've read here, this sounds like the wrong part. Are any of you familiar with this one?

The Standard Motor Parts VC-24A should be marked "B1" (I expect the "T" following the "A" simply denotes "T"-series). Whether it's the right one for your application is another matter.

If you do a search, there was a discussion in the last couple of days regarding available vacuum cans and applicability to various engine comoinations.
