Rocker molding attachment strips on birdcage

On a car with under the car exhaust, I am aware of the metal tabs welded to the birdcage for attaching the rocker molding. If they have been cut off flush when side exhaust was installed, can they be replaced without lifting the body?

I am not going to say that they cant, but its going to be harder than removing the body or at least jacking it up.

Bob, I had a friend with a 67 and removed the side exhaust and drilled 1/8 holes and screwed the new retainers to the bird cage (use pan head blk. phos. self tappers). And used a little puddy over the screws. (this is the quick easy way)

My experience indicates doable only with the body off.....at least welding them into place.
