Re: When did mid year dashes have the half moon.......
64 thru 67 had plastic indicators and had the half moons for the light to shine thru as the plastic portion protruded thru the holes in the dash and used the lights placed around the clock mount. 63's were metal and had only one small hole for alignment purposes.

Re: When did mid year dashes have the half moon.......
Thanks Ray. That's backurds' from what I was thinkin' but it makes better sense. One of my '63 coupes, which I'm working hard on now has a D2 build date. It doesn't have the slots. I can't remember the build on my OTHER coupe, but I know for sure it's later. The puzzlin' part is that my convertible with a J3 build has them. This particular car was disassembled in about 1965, undamaged for one of several reasons, depending on the sobriety level of the owner back then at the time he was telling the tale 30 to 40 years later. Anyhow, the dash has the slots. It is loose in the car, so I can't say that it hasn't been swapped, but it's what was loose in the car when I rescued it in early 80's. I'm wondering if it's possible that a late car, just shy of 18K serial number would have had the slots. I guess the easy thing to do is fit the dash to the door jambs and see if all the pop rivet holes line up. (I've had it to bare glass and there's no redrilling in the jambs.)- Top

I was really hopin' somebody else would chime in on this. The question is, did any LATE '63 dashes have the half moon slots or has the 18K car had a dash change in it's past?- Top
