    Drag link finish

In looking at some prior post, looks like the drag link on the '57 is unpainted (no mentionnot paint in the jm).

    1) what is left the natural finish? What preventing it from rusting?

    2) did it have "blackout" paint on it? What sheen is the blackout paint?

i painted the drag links on our 54, 55, 56 , both 57's and the 61 and 62. i used satin black and never had a deduction when these seven c-1's were judged.in the picture on page 135 of noland's book the drag link appears to be natural. who knows. mike

      Re: Drag link finish

Jason, one of my original assy on one side had black out paint on bottom parts but not real heavy as the greese build up preserved some of the black paint that was left on rods, I finished mine in simi black then sprayed a very light coat of "Sems" Trim black just on the bottom sides covering some of the colored markings as if the factory might have done on say like the middel of a good work week. just chassie black will work too. I also liked what Mike stated.
