    C2 Strike Plate

As part of a body off restoration of my 63 convertible, I have removed and glass bead blasted the door strike plate assemblies (a steel plate riveted to an aluminum casting). Now I need to plate the steel piece, but in order to do that, I have to seperate the steel piece from the aluminum casting. Has any one done that before? Are the rivets that hold them togehter available?
    Thanks,

    Peter,
I took mine to a plater and they replated them as assembled. It needs special handling but was done. I think it is zinc plated (no chromate) and looks as original. I assume something had to be done to protect the aluminum.

      Peter,

I found a thread on this subject a while back. If I understand correctly, I don't think you want to separate the riveted pieces.

Here is the thread: Striker Plating

Thanks to all, especially the reference for the thread from 2 years ago. My plater told me that it would have to be masked, and he doesnt do that. If anyone has a plater they used, without disassemling the steel and aluminum parts, please send me his name and contact info, so I can try them.
          Thanks again.
