Today I start my lobbing for no point deduct on DOT markings on reproduction tires and headlights. The NCRS says they wish people should drive there cars and not trailer them. Who in there right mind would drive on 50 year old tires. Some people modify repo tires by taking these markings off, is not that against the law? As for insurance purposes, people could be liable in a court of law, or else why would a tire manufacturer put them on in the first place?

Re: D.O.T point deduction
so, you drive on repop DOT tires and get mileage credit in judging process - total point deduction is THREE points for the four tires on the ground - so you have a NON-DOT tire as a spare - not sure why this is such a problem???Rick Aleshire

Re: D.O.T point deduction
Gerald,
There's a lot more than the DOT marking to remove. As Rick said, deduction is minimal.
If you want to lobby, write a letter to the National Judging Chairman - this is a technical forum.
