    Should I sell my C1?

    Hi
We have this rainy summer here in Denmark this year and because of that no driving
I have spend 4-5 years to resto my vette and put a lot of love in it.
Then comes these thoughts about selling the vette( maybe you have had these thoughts) and buy a new car which I can ride on every day, maybe a Maserati or a Mercedes-Benz!!!!
Then I open my PC and goes to this site and beginning to read about all the joy and small problems the members have and beginning to be a little embarrased of myself.
I have the most wonderful and good looking car ever made and then these thoughts.
Sorry folks, it will never happen again.
Maybe some have tried the same and maybe have go longer than me??

    Merry Christmas to all.

    Regards Joern

    Merry Christmas Jorn.

It's not unsusal to think about selling a car after you have completed a restoration. A lot of people do that. Sometimes it's because they enjoyed the challenge of restoring the car and now that's over. Sometimes things change for people like family or financial or health situations. Many people perform these restorations with the intent of selling the car when they're through and making a profit.

If poor weather is stopping you from enjoying your car, there are newer Corvette models that perform very well in the rain. They can be purchased for about the price that your car would sell for.

    Paul

P.S. I've spent a lot of time in Copenhagen. How much of the sun do you see this time of year? At least the temperatures are mild.

      God Jul!
After many years in Norway, I know the feeling. I did sell my C2 once, but I had another that was a better model, and I replaced it with a muscle car I always wanted, a '68 GT500KR, so no problem, but you have to keep at least one 'Vette in the garage.

I think everyone who has owned Corvettes and sold them do regret not having a particular car sooner or later. I miss all of them that I have sold and would not sell if I had it to do over again. My current one will die with me. Mike

            Hi Jorn,
You'll be sorry. If you don't need the money and don't have another project to begin, why sell? The sun will shine again and next spring when you have the first sunny, warm day you will wish you had it back. There isn't a car I have owned ('67 Austin Healey, 59 Triumph TR3, 64 Corvette, 64 Pontiac GTO, 63 Corvair Spyder, 55 Tunderbird, 57 Plymouth Fury, 41 Buick convertible, 32 Ford rod) that I don't wish I had back. Usually I have sold one to get the money to buy another. I should have found the money elsewhere.

            Merry Christmas.
            Doug

Don't sell it. You will regret it. There's something special about these solid axle cars that sets them apart from all others. You are an instant celebrity wherever you go. Gas fill ups take about a half hour because of all the people that want to talk to you while you're filling up. They just have so much character. Just wait for that good weather and enjoy it.

I agree, went on a weekend trip and stopped at a rest area in the middle of Washington state, it lasted about 45 minutes and talked to several people about the car and met a guy that just purchased a 1961 (his first) and have sent him some information about early Corvettes. I sold our 1965 and have always missed that car. Do not sell unless you have to.

                  Thanks Guys
You have convinced me, never talking about selling the car anymore
Now we have to wait for the summer.
But it's funny that we go through "fire and water" to get a special car and suddenly we see another model on the other side of the street and then begin the "thoughts" again

                  Merry Christmas to all.

                  Regards Joern

                      Jorn,

I could kick myself for very one I've let get away (a lot) except that D$#!& 1987! As already stated if you have a place for storage and the $$$$$'s to keep it, by all means do so!

                      MERRY CHRISTMAS
