    64 convertible garnish molding

My new windshield was finally installed yesterday. As an aside, if you are replacing a windshield use only Paragon clips. We had to install and remove the new windshield twice because I originally bought non-Paragon clips. The lower molding could not be instrted into the clips.

The outer moldings were installed with the windshield. The interrior upper and lower are back on. My questions involves the interrior side (vertical) garnish moldings. At the upper corner, do the inside moldings get fitted under the outside molding or on top of them? It seems that the inner moldings should be under the outers at the top corner but I can't seem to get them inserted.

Thanks for any advice or even a photo.

    Happy holidays to all.
    Doug

Doug --- here's what my '65 looks like; can't vouch if original, as windshield was replaced around 1971 (stray bullet while car was being driven . It was east Texas, after all).

Apears the inside garnish is over the outside up to the corner, at which point it does a dog-leg to the inside of the upper piece.. Second pic is hard to see detail, but if the strip that anchors the front side weatherstrip was unscrewed, it would be apparent that the inside is over the outside. (gotta re-glue that w/str. ). Also, if I'm reading it correctly, this agrees with '65 AIM UPC 1, sheet F22, View A.

      Doug,
the inner side moulding at the top corner fits inside the outer, as Wayne said.
Maybe these photos will show it. How you make the pieces fit together I cannot answer. Good luck

        Re: 64 convertible garnish molding

Thanks Wayne and Don. I tried it tonight and with some effort I managed to place the inner garnish molding under the outer at the top corner. Once it went under the rest of the piece slid right into place.

Next question: I put the vent window in place on the door. There seems to be a slight gap, maybe 1/16", between the lower horizontal outer face of the vent frame and the stainless extension of the fuzzy wipe that runs along the outer edge of the door. Do your cars have this gap? My weatherstrip kit had nothing that would seal this area and the AIM shows no seal there.
        Thanks-Doug

          Doug,
no, nothing between the vent frame lower edge and stainless trim on the window opening edge. There is slight gap in places, but generally a tight fit all across.
          Pics coming.
