    63 Tire Tub Bolt

Jan. 63 car, The bolt that holds the spare tire lid closed. Would that bolt assembly be Cad plated or black.

Gary, the rear bolt assembly is a combination of cad and paint.
    1. The bolt is cad
    2. The barrel nut is cad
    3. The pin is cad
    4. The mounting bracket is gloss black
    5. The larger washer is gloss black

      Gary,

The two in the front are cad plated and the one in the rear is not painted black but a natural finish. Probably Black Phosphate and oiled in the beginning.

I was told the bolts, nuts, bracket, that whole assembly, should all be black phosphate ( chapter meet)

Here is a few pictures. The forward bolt is the very early style and so is the rear bolt assembly, notice no collar on the bolt, thus no washer.

Yep, the top parts in each picture are not restored. The parts at the bottom are restored. I pick the rusted stuff up over the summer and work on them over the winter. Just a hobby to kill time.
