1969 M20 Transmission Clutch assembly cover color

I'm trying to determine what is the correct color of the clutch cover and clutch inspection plate attached to my manual M20 transmission. I have a 427/400hp L68 big block recently restored. I have seen it two colors. One is the same Chevy orange as the engine block and the other a silver, same as the manual transmission. Any help here?

Forget the silver. They were NEVER, EVER painted that color. They were painted engine orange with the engine assembly. However, the paint coverage could be somewhat spotty and there may be some bare metal, especially behind the oil pan.

There was an exception to the engine orange for 1969 only. If you happen to have an original ZL-1 with a 4 speed transmission, those covers were painted black.

Thanks Joe, looks like Chevy engine orange it is. I could only wish I had the 1969 ZL-1 with the 4 speed. To my knowledge there was only one of those "original" models released to the public and designed by Zora Duntov and a second one with an automatic transmission.
