    Prospective Buyers

If we are selling our jewel should we allow the prospective buyer to drive it - seems risky though it looks like they would be covered by insurance - I have Hagerty.

For those of you that bought your corvette were you able to drive it (as opposed to just riding in it) before agreeing to purchase?

    Thanks for any suggestions,

I would after I took them for a spin and felt them out a little. Have they ever driven a C-1 before? They don't drive like any other. Look for serious buyers. Don't let the car out of your sight (ride with them).

Post some pictures of your car. Why are you selling? Can't beat RED!

The test drive should be the last step in the selling process and then only in the presence of the owner after the following steps:
      • Buyer makes a visual inspection
      • Seller provides all pertinent information
      • Seller starts engine
      • If the buyer is still interested, negotiate a price contingent on a test drive under agreed upon conditions to verify there are no handling, suspension or drivetrain problems.
If the seller and buyer cannot reach an agreed price, there is no reason for a test drive. Any potential buyer that insists on a test drive earlier in the process is most likely a tire kicker.

We've always called them "strokers". They have no intention of buying. They're just there to kill thier time and waste yours.

Charles, Don has given some good advice. Basically be cautious. Corvettes are'nt just used cars.

You would'nt believe the number of cars that I've sold (not Corvettes) where the buyers did'nt drive them. That might be fine for them, but for me...no drive, no buy.

I'd ask to see a license.

I have sold a number of collectable MoPars over the past 15 years. Only test drive is with proven ability to purchase. There are just too many tire kickers that have NO idea how a 40 year old muscle car drives, brakes, ect.

I am not sure how the insurance company feels about letting someone drive the car that is not on the policy, I also have Haggerty, but when I sold our 1965 I took the buyer for a drive and he was all right with that. I personnaly would not let mine go for a test drive without me in it. You should be able to tell tire kickers in most cases.
              my 2 cents anyway.

Great feedback - I learned a few things and can now proceed accordingly.

                Thank You All
