    72 LT1 Suffix label

Does anyone make engine suffix label that goes on the valve cover for a 72 LT1?

If you go to the bottom of this thread you can see older discussion about this item. Click on the 1st item and in there is the size of the label but you may what to contact PH reply #7 with an email from his profile for more info.

Rick, wouldn't it be on your engine stamp pad? Or is your engine not correct? Mine is. Mine is a '73 LS4 and all numbers are correct.

I got some labels from PH. Very nice, but I used my own as I thought they were more correct. Always get a on the engine suffix label when my car gets judged.

With these stickers there are nuances and variations from engine to engine, year to year. I have photos of original stickers that show as many as 3 (!) different fonts and styles used in the same year for the same engine. There is no one font or one style despite what many many think. Some stickers have more than one font on the same sticker!

In your case I duplicated the font and layout of an original in my collection to make the first suffix sticker I sent you. Only later when comparing it to a different original you found did you complain to me that you did not think mine was accurate enough. I would have made you an exact copy of your preferred sticker the first time had you asked specifically for that. As it was I still made you an exact duplicate of the sticker you saw and sent it to you for no extra charge even though you'd already made your own. So, you now have from me copies of two versions of two original stickers. Both are correct.

Please do me the favor of telling the whole story. I put way too much time and money into these to have people think that they're just "close." I work on these and collect information on them to help benefit the hobby, not to make any money. My $800 laser printer and subsequent supplies are nowhere near paid for based on what I charge for these little yellow squares of paper.

I specifically do not advertise here and rarely let anyone know that I make these. My stickers are sold only by word of mouth, and this is the only time I've commented on my handiwork in this fashion.
I'll get off my soapbox now.

              Patrick

Sorry to get you in to this tread the comments by the other post was uncalled for. I know you and I are here to try to help other members and add to our knowledge base and theirs. I was just trying to help Rick find an easier way around the discussion board for information and contacts. So he could make his own label or find a source for his particular project and future ones.

I know the many years you put into this research and effort to get examples and to expand the knowledge for all NCRS members. With out the efforts of you and many other members this information may have been lost or never studied. I for one did not notice Suffix labels till we spoken many years ago and I thank you for that.

Patrick..please don't think that your labels..we don't appreciate. I remember your concern and help with me when working on my labels. I had just put mine on prior to yours arriving in the mail.

I still have yours and will use them of course if and when the need arises.

We all know when you need the correct suffix code label..your the man to call.

                  Hi Patrick,
I too realize the effort and $ you've put into gathering infomation on, and from, original labels, and the fonts used on them!
A nice little detail for owners that is the result of a lot of work on your part; from an interest in them, and an eye for detail, to the technical understanding needed to produce them.
                  Regards,
                  Alan

                    Thank you gentlemen.
Now time for the group hug.

I just want anyone interested to realize that there is no "good enough" when I create these labels. Every set is made using all of the original examples I have in my collection and I strive for complete accuracy.

Having a 5-Star Bowtie/Benchmark owner think that my sticker on his car (placed by the previous owner) was the original was quite the compliment last year.

If you write as well when you're copying your flight plan it's amazing you ever get to where you're supposed to go

I don't have to copy flight plans...someone does that for me.

My handwriting is better than Patrick's. Have you ever seen how those doctors scribble?

Someone may write the flight plans but I think Captain Mark needs to determine if he is "coming or going". Some days that might be a tough call for him.
