    Hi Patrick,

    Here ya go.

    Rust-Oleum V2185 838
    Krylon S00740
    CRC 18412
SprayOn Brand S00740. Looks to be Krylon at Grainger for less than $7 a can.

    What do you think?

I think this paint would be an excellent substitute for the original. In fact, I was going to suggest as an alternative trying cold galvanizing compound in my original post. These sound like they would work better.

        Thanks Joe

It will be a few months before I get it finished. I will try and post pics when the spring is finished.

            Hi, Gary
Do you have a PDF of the article to post?

Thanks to Bill Lennox for posting this subject and all of the information provided by knowledgable responders. Today I picked up '69 rear spring from Carl Droste ('69 resto-mod convertible, '72 LS-5 "Phoenix" articles in the Corvette Restorer). All this information will be useful toward refinishing my newly acquired rear spring.

                Scott,

Send me your e-mail address and I can send you a PDF I created of my original MS WORD file. My PDF won't look like the Restorer article, but the content is the same.

I used the Rustoleum product this past winter, it looked pretty good but I don't have an original to compare it to.

My brother-in-law came over last week to get the can from me so he could buy some more to paint his spring. I can take pics of my spring and possibly his which may still be dissasembled. Let me know. Have fun!!

                    hey all ...

There was a really great thread on this - maybe a year back (or more)...
It dealt with the appliction of the paint on the springs.

From what I remember it was applied with a sloppy brush and only on the top or bottom side, nothing on the side edges.
There may be other detail - I will find the thread and put a link in here later.

Thanks for the link Bill. Great pics.

My spring does have gray on both sides. The one side may be leakage. If it was originally applied as sloppily as I would expect at the factory, it could easily drip down the sides too.
