Re: mecum auction car to watch
I guess one thing we are to assume is that the claimed original non-DOT Uniroyal Laredo whitewall tires were noy on the ground for the entire 53,514 miles, The original Uniroyal tires on my 63 never saw 20,000 miles (except for the spare which has never touched the ground, nor will it).

Re: mecum auction car to watch
With that engine mine wouldn`t have lasted 5,000 miles. My new 66 Mustang had the cord showing at 4,000 miles on the rear. My father wasn`t happy as we co-owned the car. Bad idea.- Top

Re: mecum auction car to watch
My 45,000 mile '67's spare is worn smooth out, ..............and some pretty sharp people have confirmed that it was not original, but the 1st replacement tire.
I do not buy that original 1967 tires would last as long as claimed, if that's in fact the claim.

I know that car very well. It is a spectacular piece and should achieve a very strong price. The tires are original non dot uniroyal laredos but are probably not the ones that the car came down the assembly line with. Other than that the writeup is excellent and very accurate.- Top

I beleave that they ment that the tires were the original kind of tire that GM mounted on Corvettes. Kind of a play on words for the hipe.

Re: mecum auction car to watch
Now on the other foot show me a Bowtie-Duntov/Benchmark Corvette, I think that vehicle you could take to the bank. Just a Big difference in 50% original Benchmark and 80 to 85% original Bowtie.
For that matter there is also a difference in a Duntov and a Bloomington Gold. Not much other than a 97%min versus 95%min and a little thing know as the Performance Verification.
But we all know I am biased- Top

Re: mecum auction car to watch
Guys;
It is a nice looking car. Roy makes a great point with the difference between Blooming's certs. and the real deal look over given the Bowtie
cars.
I had one exactly like this one in 1968-69. I got greedy and sold it. ($3700.00) A great deal in the day. No insurance available, so no buyers
available.
I thought I had to have another for the power thrill, but my ZR-1 surely
filled that need and then some! ! !

Re: mecum auction car to watch
I love the original cars. It always amazes me when a high HP lasts this long untouched, based on what we used to do to these cars when we were youngerI'll be in Kissimmee this year, I'll have to look it up. The paint looks great on the car, wish mine was as nice.

It was the only car there that made me turn around to go back and look at it closer...
I agree, it is spectacular piece of automotive history...
I bet it does well at auction too...

Re: mecum auction car to watch
Except for the wheels, tires and tri-power, it looks identicial to the one I ordered new at Galles-Groesbeck Chev. in late 1966 and recieved early 1967. I still have the original window sticker. Marina blue, bright blue interior, Black vinyl hard top and black hood scoop. It had power steering and white walls for the wife. I have the window sticker in my safe but I think it was around 5300.00 list. I paid 3950.00 as George Groesbeck was a friend of mine. I sold it after a little over a year with 36,000 miles on it for 4250.00 and thought I had hit a home run. Beautiful car, still kicking my self. Dale- Top
