'69 Sway Bar Bushings Too Tall?

I got a pair of NOS sway bar bushings from Dr Rebuild for my '69 and I believe they are too tall - they look like what I've seen for later models. I was told to give them a try and that they will fit once they are tighttened down but I say no way. I believe it's another case of "NOS" being drastically different from original. Has anyone ever used these bushing sucessfully without cutting them?
    Thanks,
    Jack

The bushings always appear too long. They must be compressed down into the brackets and around the bar. Otherwise, the bar would be useless. Using longer bolts, you can compress them down into the brackets. Then, if you wish, you can exchange the bolts, one at a time, for the correct bolts.

At St. Louis I believe they used some kind of hydraulic-operated device to compress the bushings. You don't have that available so use the longer bolts.
