891 distributor rebuild

I know this has been discussed before, but no luck in the archives.

Specs for max end play and radial runout at the drive gear of the distributor, please?

Also a source for good quality bushings and shaft if needed.

If you do an advanced search using search words like distributor end play, you should find plenty of discussion.

Side play should be barely noticeable - no more than a couple of thou.

New bushings are available from BWD and most likely all the other major brand distributor replacement parts vendors (check their online catalogs), but they should be align honed after installation, so it's best to have this done by someone experienced in the procedure.

If the bushings don't need to be replaced, overhauling/blueprinting a distributor is a pretty straight forward task, and it's covered in various shop and overhaul manuals.

Thanks, Duke. Found some more useful specs and a potential rebuild source. I think the bushings are in need of replacement (up to .007 side play), but the rest of the rebuild is within my capabilities. Appreciate your assistance.
