    Another C3 body lift question

I'm getting ready to lift my body up, one side at a time to replace some very rusty fuel lines. I'm doing one side at a time because right now I don't have a place to pull the body all the way off. So, trying to get it done with little problems I'm turning to all the authorities for comments.

I've read Nolands checklist and all is good until I get to what to unhook at the front end. I've found several bolts and panels that look like they might need to be unhooked, but when I refer to the AIM and specifically page UPC14/A2 it's not too clear. It looks like I need to remove all the bolts holding the outer brace assembly (#10) and extension assembly (#7) to the frame. Is that correct? If not, what am I missing? Also, does the member assembly (#5) need to come off?

Thanks for your help. I know it sounds dumb, but I don't want to screw anything up or break anything.

Kurt I am not a authority on body removel but have some experience, liftingthe body one side at a time may prove to be a difficult task, if you have a engine lifter with that has a extending arm with body sling it would help make things easier. there should be a check list here in the acrhives for C3 body removel. I copied mine from the C2 registry.worked great.

Kurt, did'nt you ask us this before? You have to do the same amount of work to lift one side at a time as the whole body.

You can lift it with a portable engine lift, and you can even do it outside in an apartment parking lot (don't ask).

As Ed suggested, the C2 checklist will work. Take it slow and you'll see the items you missed when you try to lift it.

Yes Paul, I did. But, read my questions. Very specific as to a gray area in Noland's checklist, referring to the front end attachment points.

Kurt, the bumpers and braces front and rear need to be removed, I can look at my 72 tonight when I get home, there maybe a couple of support rods in the front, they may not get in the way.

Note that you can replace the fuel lines without lifting the body off the frame. There is a poster here who has done it twice without having to splice the fuel line. I was not so lucky and had to splice at the back end of the passenger's side frame rail. Either way I would think it's far easier than lifting the body.

Brake lines are easy to replace compared to fuel lines. I had to do both on the same car.

Thanks for the information guys. I got the body up just about enough to get the lines out with only a little difficulty. Tomorrow they new lines go back in. Wasn't easy, but not as bad as I imagined it might be.
