My Christmas present to myself. A blue-printed steering box from Gary R. I sure do not push my 1974 (it's a Sunday afternoon driver) but I do insist on safe and precise steering. Specs are:

    5 in/lb preload
    12.5 in/lb lash
    0.002" lash gap
    0.002" sideplay
    pitman arm 150 ft/lb

Thinking back, the Borgeson conversion might have worked with some aggravation re fit, and shortening the steering column, but I am happy with my decision to go the straight-and-narrow.

    Thanks Gary!

      Mike,

It came USPS in about six days from CT to ON with no UPS/FedEx fuss or muss. Believe it or not Canada Post was out today (Sunday) with parcel delivery as a Christmas present to Canadians!

Nice deal Paul. I didn't think USPS/Canada Post would accept parcels that heavy. Good to know, and glad to see that Gary came through again.

Shipping receipt shows 20 lbs. That's not terribly heavy? Soccer Moms do this every day.

Yes, Gary came through big time. He gave me pics and specs of the re-built unit. Not that I understand those specs!! But it gives comfort that he knows what he is doing.

          From Canada Post web site:

Maximum weight for a parcel is 30 kg (66 lb.)

              Mike,

These are the truck guys/gals not the door-to-door people. I wouldn't expect the latter to carry around such baggage.

The problem tonight is explaining to the Wife why a C3 Corvette steering box is sitting under the Christmas tree. It makes sense to me .
