A/C Cable Dash Installation

Hello Everyone:

When I install the upper left and upper right a/c cables, after tightening the nut there is about 1/4 inch of play left where the nut does not pull the cable tight to the dash. I am only experiencing the problem with the upper a/c cables. The bottom right (defroster) and left (blower switch) cables tighten nicely to the dash. I can't find anything in the assembly manual that I am missing, but I am obviously doing something wrong. All equipment is original. 65 roadster.

Everyone is stumped because of my misinformation. I stated that I had everything installed and I now realize I did not. I was sent a PM from a member and he ask if I had the center dash vent installed (which I didn't). Then the light bulb went off. I disassembled everything over 2 years ago and did not remember the center dash piece and I find the drawings in the assembly manual difficult to visualize sometimes. Now I just have to find the center dash duct. Way too many parts laying around. Sorry for the confusion.
