I am looking to Purchase a '68 Vette Roadster and am asking of the Members, Where are the "Rot Spots" to look for, on the Frame....?
Anything else to Watch out for on this C3....? Thank you. Sam

.....the typical places are the bottom of the radiator core support, trailing arm pockets, the end caps of the frame just below each trailing arm pocket, windshield frame and pillars just for a start...

You definitly what to view the trailing arms and mounting area for these arms, front frame where the a-arms mount. I would take the car to a mechanic that knows vettes, just saying...

I would want to view the frame behind the kick panels and get down on my back with a good hand held light and look at the frame behind the dash panels. If water was run down the windshield, I would look for water on the floor mats. Removing the stainless steel windshield trim would show the windshield frame and if rust is present.

Take a magnet with you when you make your inspection on the frame. Make sure it sticks to all the frame trouble areas mentioned in earlier posts. Bondo and paint has fooled some of the best inspection eyes before on the frame. Don't ask me how I know.

Sam,

Take a small pen knife with you. If you see any scale, scrape it off with the blade and then see if the point will go through.
