Center has light and key lock button. The outer two are just push button release.

While you're at it, all the doors on your storage compartments were designed to have a tab in the hinge pin to spring open the doors about 2 inches or more when the release was pushed. Good luck on that one! I'll be tackling it this winter.

That spring in the hinge was a pain in the rear. It caused the plastic frame to bend and crack. Guess that's why all the changes for 69 hinge. The strikers were unique to early 68 also, item 13 in AIM 1,E3. Had a rivet at first with no #10. You can also see a logo on the stricker back.

Thanks for sharing the information on the latches and the bonus info about the hinge spring.

Jeff you do know there was a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) to add the 1969 style loops to the 1968 doors? Not withstanding that Bulletin you will lose judging points for that addition, but your Corvette experience will be enhanced.

I think 69 items are for 69 cars, not late 68 cars.

One might think that, but I am anxiously waiting for the questions that will come when we print the 1968 and 1969 Technical Service Bulletins. Just sit back and watch, and remember I predicted the questions here.

                  I'll ask the first question:

When are you printing and making available the 68 and 69 Tech Service Bulletins?

They will be included with the "new and improved" 1968-69 TIM&JG when that is available. Also included will be selections from Chevrolet Service News and Campaign Bulletins pertaining to Corvette.

Early '69 also had spring loaded doors and no loops. Terrible design. In order to release the latch you had to push down and when released to spring open the door, the latch closed. Or the door was binding a bit and refused to open. A screw driver was a necessary option to pry the door to open. Later in '69 model year the springs were eliminated and the vinyl pull tabs substituted.

now i found the locking glovebox latch and a lock for the spare tire with matching "D" keys. Haven't found the other latchs or latch retainers yet, still more boxes to search thru.
