    1962 clutch fan and blade

    Hi,
Can anyone help in identify a clutch fan blade for a 62 340 hp.
Such as dia. rivet description,or better yet a photo.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Roger - If I identified the fan blade assembly in Jerry's picture correctly, it appears to be GM part #3770529 fan blade assembly which according to the Chevrolet Parts & Accessories Catalog fits

      60 CORVETTE w/Fan Drive Equip.,
      61-67 CORVETTE (exc. C.A.C., 396, 427) (17-1/8 dia., 5 blades - 3 bolt circle-
      2-3/8 hub hole)

The configuration of the rivets that attach the fan blades to the center reinforcement support or spider as show in Jerry's picture have the round mushroom heads and this it typical of the 3770529 fan blade assemblies used initially and would be what I'd expect for a 1962 Corvette because there was a change to the flat button head rivets sometime during either the 1963 or 1964 Production year.

While I can't speak for the earlier versions of the 3770529 fan blade assemblies, the original 3770529 fan blade assemblies from 1956 to 1967 Corvettes with the flat button head rivets I have seen have had a "H" (for Hays-Albion, the manufacturer) stamped on the front of the center of the support and a "W" stamped on the back of one of the support arms.

There should be a lot of information available in other threads about the 60-67 Corvette 5-blade fan (GM # 37700529, 17 1/8" dia., 3" B.C., 2 3/8" hub hole, 5 rivets/blade and made by Hayes-Albion). The early fans have "domed" rivet head while the later fans have "flat" rivet heads. The changed took place about 1964.

The 3749576 fan ("domed" rivet heads) used on 1958-1963 Chevrolets w/AC, etal, is very similar except the diameter is 18". Measure from the CENTER of the hub hole to the tip of any blade, then double it (D = 2R).

          Pete,

          I believe you mean "1966 to 1967", not "1956 to 1967".

Dave - Thanks for catching the err. The years should have read "1965 to 1967."
