    63 Silver Blue FI Conv # 2488 #3488

(or #3488?) Anyone have the silver blue FI conv that was at the Wisconsin Dells NCRS event around 1981 or 82? I'm trying to find out when the wire style vacuum advance pipe retainer/clip changed to the flat style clip in production.

I'm not sure if my GF wrote 2488 or 3488 on the paper.

I would like to know what the FI unit number is. Thanks....

Michael, I have always wondered when the cutoff date is myself. I really don't know. A wild guess is this. When the plenums changed from recessed nozzle blocks to the typical configuration the clips changed too. But I have zero documentation to back this up.
Hope you can come up with the answer. Thanks, JD

        JD,

I think it was later than that. In fact, I know it was. The white 63 that Road & Track road tested had a later plenum without the recess area under the nozzle blocks, but still had the wire vacuum advance support.

The car in my picture was at least #2488 with the wire style vacuum advance tube support. I don't think FI plenums with the recess area lasted anywhere near that long in production, did they?

Michael, If it helps, car 3922 (unit 1567) has the sheet metal clip and no recesses.
