54 hood latch

The hood on my 54 keeps popping open on the drivers side after about five miles. Is there any way to fix this problem without putting grooves in the hood pin?

you posted this a couple minutes too late. putting grooves in the pins or shimming the latches does little good. you probably need a female latch with a good spring and a hole that is not worn smooth on one side due to the pin rubbing against it. a set of replated latches just sold on ebay for $39.

I'd still try shimming or "canting" the female latch outward by putting a few washers under both bottom bolts.

When I had my 54, it worked for me.
