    67 underhood wiring

On a 67 base motor convertible that hasn't seen the light of day since 1979; AIM section 12, sheet D1 indicates that there should be two pink wires to the positive terminal on the coil-- a 12 gauge that comes from the ballast resistor and a 16 gauge that comes from the starter solenoid. It looks to me, on the car, that the 16 gauge wire is bundled with the other starter wires, and that behind the wiper motor, in the wrapped wire bundle, it is joined with the 12 gauge wire from the resistor. Is my assessment correct, or am I missing something?
    Thanks!

    Re: 67 underhood wiring

Mike - Checked my base motor 67 and here's what I found.

The 12 gauge wire to the bottom terminal of the resistor is pink and it goes into the firewall. The 12 gauge wire to the top terminal of the resistor is more of a light tan (apparently my car has been out in the sun and the wire has gotten a "tan" ) and is definitely a different color than the pink wire coming off the bottom terminal.

There are 2 wires to the + terminal of the coil. One is a 12 gauge wire that appears to be the wire from the top terminal of the resistor and is the light tan color and the other is a 18 gauge wire that is pink.

    Hope this helps. Pete

      Pete--
Where does the 18 gauge pink wire come from? Thanks for looking, by the way!

Mike - The 18 gauge pink wire from the + coil terminal goes into a harness that from what I see goes down to the starter solenoid and there is a 18 gauge pink wire down there and I expect it's the same one but I can't tell specifically what it attaches to. Pete

          Mike -

The 12-ga. pink wire connected to the bottom terminal on the ballast resistor goes through the firewall grommet to the "IGN" terminal on the ignition switch. The 12-ga. pink wire from the top terminal on the ballast resistor goes to the (+) terminal on the coil; that spade connector at the coil also contains an 18-ga. pink wire, which goes inside the starter harness wrap to the "R" terminal on the starter solenoid - it's the bypass circuit that supplies 12V to the coil (+) when the starter is cranking.

            John and Pete--Thanks!!!
I have the pink at the bottom of the bundle to the "R" on the solenoid---I can't find it anywhere at the top of the bundle for extending to the coil, and I can't find anywhere that it has been cut off and/or rewrapped. I suspected that it would be in the bundle as you described, John, but haven't found it--aparrently it was cut off clean, and I haven't found it!
