Air Pressure for Radials on a C1

    Hi all,

I am driving with the Firestone Indy 500 Firehawk radials on my 1960. The owner's manual calls for 24 pounds of air pressure, possible because the car is light or because that was for the original bias plys. Just wondering if I should go with the 24 or would a higher pressure be better. Just want to max the treadwear.

    Thanks,

    Bob

    Bob -

The 24 psi spec is for the original bias-ply tires; I'd start with 32 psi and adjust from there based on observed wear patterns. 32 psi has always worked for me with radials, on C1's and C2's.
