    435hp or 390hp

Can you tell a 435hp motor from a 390hp motor by looking at the oil line connection ?

Yes, you can. The machining of the oil filter casting pad was different for solid lifter (435hp and 430hp) and hydraulic lifter (390hp and 400hp) engines.

For solid lifter engines the oil line was connected to the first of 3 possible bosses along the oil filter casting pad on the block. On an hydraulic lifter engine the first boss was not drilled and the line connects to the second boss.

Original hydraulic lifter engines can easily be machined to the solid lifter configuration.

Below is a link to a picture that shows the solid lifter machining configuration.

The picture is of a 1968. The block machining will be the same in 1967.

In 1967 the oil pressure line was steel and it was the same for both 390hp and 435hp cars. The only difference between them will be the boss it attaches to.
