Need help identifying small bracket in 1977 C3

Well after my son and I started our complete frame off restoration project of my 1977 L48 4 spd C3 about 7 years ago we are almost done and finally down to the last few sets of parts to put back on the car. Unfortunately we are having some difficulty identifying an unmarked bracket laying in the bottom of our painted parts box. Its a small bent sheet metal bracket with 2 small flanges on one side which looks like it should clip into something, and one hole in the middle of the bracket (see photos). After installing what seems like an endless number of brackets, clips, and supports back into the car, we just can't remember where this one goes. Any help would be appreciated.

The slot makes it look like it was used to support the spare tire tub so the bolts can pivot but than its missing mounting holes. At least, that's the way they were supported in 1978 and suspect 77 was the same.

Thanks Tom, but its not the spare tire holder support bracket, this bracket is smaller than that one.
