Re: 1965 375 HP water pump pulley part number
Michael -- I just took a magnifying glass to verify that the '245' pictured above in my post # 6 has no part number stamped, either on the cone or on the clutch mount face. Got it in a box of parts from a father/son resto-rod project -- mild conversions of a '64 (VIN 086xx) and a '65 (VIN 101xx). Bought the AM/FM radios and a half dozen black steel wheels, and they threw in the rest for free. I don't know which of the two cars this pulley (incl. water pump and '529' fan and Sweitzer clutch) is from, but I do believe that all except the water pump is original to that period.
Just a theory, but I feel that as the sheer number of pulley designs multiplied throughout the C2 years, part numbers were stamped for service reasons, to avoid errors. Just look at how the P&A books became gradually thicker from the '64 thru '70 period (which is all I have).
