I do not see any reason for a deduction based on those pictures. Do not rub aggressively with anything on that surface.

Reading this discussion brings back memories from the last regional I entered with my '67. I also had a "full" deduct for the pad (88 points) for the opposite reason from this, it looked too "perfect" (as one judge said) and clean. The judges discussed giving me part credit for the pad surface, as they agreed the broach marks were correct and looked authentic, but checked with the head judge who said it was all or nothing. I didn't argue much (although the logic of having NTP stamps on a pad that is authentic escapes me), as I had enough points for my award goal, but the whole thing is a bit odd. This pad looks fine, but the judges rule on the day, not any of us. I am just glad I will never have to do all this stuff again, I'm done with that part of NCRS for good .

My pad was busted and looked better than that one. i threw a fit and got stencil points but lost broach points. What do you do leave it origional or put broach marks on the pad? That makes no sense to me put it back origional???

I would probably be considered a bad judge but I don't see anything wrong with this engine pad.

Same here. I see nothing worthy of a deduction.
