Painting body color on 1960 rims

I have an idea of what the rims looked like after the body color was applied to the rims, but would like to see a photo of an original painted wheel. I understand that the part of the rim that is exposed outside the wheel cover is fully painted, but the remainder that is hidden behind the wheel cover was barely painted; more like overspray.

    Any original rims photos?

    Joe -

The entire outer face of the primed wheel was sprayed with 83-gloss wheel enamel; when the racked set of wheels on spinners came by the sprayer on the conveyor, he had no clue whether they were standard or RPO 276 wheels - they were all painted the same way. Corvette wheels (7 sets per hour) were painted in the main passenger car plant along with 65 sets of passenger car wheels per hour, and weren't painted any differently than the passenger car wheels.

Joe, sorry I do not have a picture. My barber bought a repo'd 1960 that was only a few months old. When cleaning it he took off the wheel covers and the wheels were covered in paint as John states. He ran the Roman red/red car with white walls and no wheel covers for a couple of days. The first Vette I ever rode in if for only a few blocks!
