Only way it's on the right in mine is if I put the monitor in a mirror, and I ain't even sure about that. Here're the positions mine is showing:

    OLD STYLE NEW STYLE
3 bars 1 single recessed area

Is it possible that y'all are screwin' with me 'cause I'm old?

Here's another paradox: If lookin' in the rear view mirror turns right to left and left to right, why doesn't it turn up to down and down to up?

The way the photos in the first post display for me is that the "tri-spoke" style cover is the RIGHT SIDE photo.

Maybe different browsers display the photos in a different order - that's why I added the description of each one ("pie-slices" vs. "flat" indentations) to my original response. The one with the pie-slices is correct, and the flat one is not.
          John,

I suppose that's possible. If so, that would explain it.

This is a bit off-topic, but this thread got me confused enough to go out to the garage and look at what I believe to be an original 8" timing chain cover. The feature I want to highlight is that this cover is stamped with the date 6 62 (see photos). Not that I've seen a lot of covers, but I had never noticed this date stamping before. So my question is, when did the dating of covers begin, and when did it end?

              Jim,

When viewed upside down, the characters look like 29 9. I don't remember a date stamp on 63-65 covers but anything is possible.

The timing tab on your cover appears to be 66 and later design.

I don't care if you call it pie-slices, triple section or whatever, the one with the 3-piece indentions is on the LEFT on my monitor. I swear.

Could be the browser thing, that John H. mentioned. Tri spoke on the right on mine; using latest Firefox browser on Unix (Ubuntu 11.10) operating system.

                            Wayne -

With IE8, the tri-spoke cover is on the left. It's a browser thing.
