Someone bead blasted my valve covers. I seem to remember that the original finish was a polished finish. Can someone describe for me and post pics?

Re: 1970 LT-1 Valve Covers
The 1970 LT-1 valve covers were not really polished. They were more of a natural as-cast aluminum finish, although there might have been a slight polish. Later aluminum valve covers, including SERVICE covers for 1969+, were of high polished finish. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1970 LT-1 Valve Covers
There is a fellow in Florida who restores intakes and valve covers to the origonal finish . I bought a set of origonal ones from him for my 71 LT1 and they are nice. He sells on E-Bay .

Jerry MacNeish restores them for about $100.

Re: 1970 LT-1 Valve Covers
These haven't been cleaned in a while (obviously) but they are anything but polished. Too thorough, aggressive and frequent cleaning can make the 1969-1972 cast covers look polished. No one would ever accuse me of that.

There are more photos of LT1 rocker covers in this thread than you can shake a stick at -- restored and unrestored. Check them out.Terry- Top
