    Stone guards on a '67

I have replced the judging tires (Firestone SS redlines bias ply) and wheels on my '67 coupe with my road wheel Torq-Thrust Ds and DiamondBack radial Michelins with red stripes for the driving season. Unfortunately, the radials kick up gravel, rocks, etc. and have chipped the paint on the rear area behind the wheelwells. I have repaired the paint but am looking for a good solution to keep the chips from happening again during driving season. Any ideas welcome, I did order the static cling plastic sheets cut to fit the area, but they just don't stick very well. It would be nice to have ones that could be removed for judging, if I ever do that again.

Mud flaps!!! The ones with the bowtie. Just kidding, of course. This is the nature of the design.

I've seen some rock guards somewhere that are like what you described but very sticky. All of them look awful and the edges eventually get grungy.

There should'nt be that many rocks in the driving lane.

I bought the clear plexaglass ones at Carlisle. I have had a pair on for many years and the work great for me. Look in Ecklers or some of the other parts catalogues. I think I have seen them there. They are held on by clips so you can take them off if needed.

For years now I have used the clear plexaglass ones from LICS - I buy matching color felt that adheres on one side and cut to fit the side that will go up against your paint ( purchase these at any arts & crafts store )
Then buy plastic covered paper spring clips at Staples - I use two per guard and never had a problem. They go on and off in seconds clipping onto your fender well lip. Good luck.

Thanks very much, that was what I was looking for, Eckler's, Zip, CorvetteAmerica, etc. didn't have them anymore, glad to see Central does. Unfortunately, I have a mile run out from my house on a gravel/dirt road, and around this time of the year they start sanding the main roads with coarse cinders that are really bad when picked up by those radials.

The Driveline usually has an ad from the manufacturer of whom I believe is in Iowa or Nebraska. I have used them for years and find very little to complain about. Lots of protection for very little investment.

Gravel roads, Ice. Obviously you're driving the wrong vehicle.
