C2 underbody cleaning

Cleaned the underbody of my 66 this past Saturday using acetone. Worked really well. Discovered a couple of numbers during the work. The first one, R89, is located just in front of were the gas tank would sit. The other, R89, just below the firewall. I remembered having located a number on the birdcage a couple of years ago, just below were the speaker sits, and sure enough, confirmed the number 89 to also be on the birdcage. As soon as I figure out how to attach photos, I will post photos of the numbers depicting their location. Anyone know what these number signify. The car is a 66 BB 390 hp.

AOS body in the R series of bodies A1-500, B1-500 etc. until R1-500. Which will mean it is a fairly late one.
