    Looking for my 64

My father-in-law rebuilt a 1964 Coupe for me when I was in the military in Viet Nam. He died a few months ago and my brother-in-law would like to find the car and buy it. I sold the car to another brother-in-law, he sold it to someone in Athens, TX probably 20 years ago. I spoke to that person and he doesn't recall who he sold it to.

The car is, or was, a red 1964 Coupe, black interior, and I think a 327/300. The VIN is 40837S113618. Any assistance would help. Contact me at billsing97@aol.com or 817-691-1910. Thanks, Bill McNease

    just a note Bill,
your VIN is not in the C2 registry.
Also, you describe a 1967 VIN, but your notes and thread title say 1964..
Also, the VIN should start with 19437S.
    Confusing.
    good luck

Try to call the Texas Dept of Transportation with yoru VIN and see if you can find it. They used to have a search by VIN to provide a history of the car if you were doing 'research'. I cannot find the link on their site but a phone call mught help. Good luck

I corrected the post. It should have said 1964 coupe.

          Don -

Actually, his '64 VIN format is correct as he posted (40837S113618); the format changed in 1965 to the familiar 194375Sxxxxxx (or 194675Sxxxxxx). '63 and '64 VINs used the first character (3 or 4) as the model year designator and 0837 or 0867 as the body style designator.
