'58 Engine Identification

Recently I purchased a 283c.i. engine with casting code 3737739 and casting date E1458. My question is regarding the VIN stamping pad which reads T527D.

I have no idea what this VIN stamping is but suspect that the block was decked and this code was from the engine builder who performed the work. Any thoughts on identifying this engine further work be much appreciated.

Is there another location on the block that has the original VIN stamped?

In the context of the casting number and date, the "D" indicates a 283 CID engine with 2 barrel carburetor and Powerglide originally installed in a late build 1958 passenger car. The engine was cast and assembled at Tonawanda, NY.

The VIN derivative was probably never anywhere on this block as VIN derivatives were not stamped at the time this was built.
