    gas gauge sending unit

I recently replaced my sending unit (1966 Coupe) with a new one and had to replace the locking ring also. The existing locking ring was warped and distorted and would not seal the "O" ring. The new locking ring provided a better seal and was leak free until last week. I discovered that the unit was leaking again so I ordered a new "O" ring. I should have ordered one with the new locking ring. Does anyone have any suggestions about a sealant to put on the new "O" ring to ensure no leaks? Anyone else have this leak problem?
Also, can the electrical connectors to the sending unit be individually replaced? (The ones that connect to the pins, not the flat spade connectors)

I use Vaseline on the 0 ring so that it slides better and seals better. I replaced one pin on my sending unit after I salvaged it off another one that I kept for parts. I don't know if they sell them separate or not.

      Thanks, Sean.
What I need is not the pin but the connector to the pin.
This may be a standard part from NAPA or others.

        Paul -

Make sure the rubber O-ring is between the sender flange and the tank; the locking ring only bears on the sender flange - it doesn't touch the O-ring.

In the plant, we soaked the O-rings in engine oil for a couple of hours prior to installation, as noted in the Assembly Manual.

If you have a known good O ring and locking cam, shouldn't need any sealant. Consider John's suggestion on O ring placment and use of oil.
