'67 St. Louis body build date v. car build date

I'm looking at a car for a friend. It's a '67 St. Louis convertible. According to the birthday calculator, the body build date and the car's build date (both in Feb, 1967) come up as being built on the very same day.

My question is whether it is at all possible that the car's body build date and car's build date can be the same day?

    Thanks...Tony

I thought the birthday calculation was an approximation based on various production numbers (and I know nothing about either).

      Anything's possible Tony.

Do all the other dates & numbers line up? Does it look like the trim tag has been off the car?

By all means, Tony; for example, the last St.Louis '65 bodies were produced with L30 dated trim tags (a Friday); and in the small survey I have, cars with VINs 23512, 520, 522, 540, 545, 551, 556, and I'm sure there's other S-bodies that I haven't heard of (yet ), were all produced on this date; that is, unless final production happened on the Saturday. The two stragglers VINs 23563 (A-body L16) and 23564 (L30) were finished on Monday Aug 2nd.

I haven't checked what the birthday calculator says.

Thanks guys. I'm just trying to do the "due diligence" for my buddy. There are just goofy things about this car that aren't adding up.

Chris, congrats again on your PV. I know both you and your dad are happy campers.

            Tony,

The Trim Tag on my '67 says "F11", for January 11th, 1967. The birthday book shows that my VIN falls within the range shown for January 11. The NCRS shipping data report showed that the car was also completed on January 11, 1967. From what I have read here on the TDB, that does not appear to be uncommon.

Absolutely. This is not uncommon, and if you think about when the trim tag was attached to the body, you can see that it's possible. My Trim Tag says B8, and my shipping data report confirms what the birthday calculator for my car said...that my car was built on October 8.

There are several threads on this and one in which I think one of the former plant people confirmed it (but don't hold me to that). I looked through the archives for this thread but I could'nt find it.

                  Tony -

The numbers are fine. Generally, if the body entered the Hard Trim Line early on the day shift, it was produced (off the line) on second shift that same day; if it entered the Hard Trim Line late on the day shift or on second shift, it was produced (off the line) on the following day (the next working day).

My 67 S/N 12706 trim tag says H3 which is a Friday March 3rd. NCRS shipping data says build date was Monday March 6th. Car was started on 2nd shift and finished on Monday 1st. STL Body 6253.
