I am also a member of the Lone Star Corvette Club. This club hosts the Corvette Classic every May where the NCRS Texas Region holds a chapter flight judging meet. As a large (850 member) club, the LSCC gets some choice assignments such as being asked to supply drivers for the inaugural Dallas Mecum Auction.
Club members also get called upon to drive in the annual Dallas Veteran's Day Parade. We carry a WWII veteran in the passenger seat. Last year, the club only asked for convertible Corvettes for the parade. But, after word got around with the veteran community, there are now 180 veterans (about 4 times as many as last year) who want to ride in a Corvette! LSCC does not have that many members who can take off work that Friday morning (Nov. 11th 8:00am-1:00pm). Due to the newfound demand, any Corvette is now needed, convertible, removable-roof coupe, T-Top, or fixed roof.
The call has just come from LSCC to all Corvette owners in the North Texas area. If you are interested, go to the LSCC website for more information and then post your interest on this thread and I will get you registered (I need your name, your Corvette's color/model, & cell phone #). -Clark
