Hard top only was available for all 1956 and later C1, C2, and C3 convertibles. However, when the hard-top option returned in 1989 it was available only in addition to the standard soft top. Then, after 1996, the hard-top disappeared, not to be seen or heard of since.

Dan, do a Technical forum search on hardtop only. There was a good thread or two on hardtop only C1's. Gary....

SUPPOSEDLY, and I know of no documentation to substantiate it, there were some cars special ordered (probably for race purposes) with ZERO tops.
          Anyone know for sure?

No factory hard tops for the 53-55 models.

                Tom -

If that happened, it must have been on a special order/plant pickup basis with strings pulled somewhere, as the car couldn't have been truck or rail shipped, and couldn't be parked outdoors.

...and I'm the original owner of a hard-top-only 1969 and I ordered it that way. It's got a soft-top now, too, though, but from 1969 until 1986 it didn't.
