    1972 and 1973 Fan Part # (454, A/C), Is It The Same?

    Can you guys help?

Is the part number the same for the fan on a 1972, 454 A/C car as it is for a 1973 with a 454 and A/C.

If so, is 1974 the same too.

The 72 fan is the one with the tip that sticks off one corner.

The numbers on the blade are, the date, 914686, and 3992095.

    What isthe first number?

    Thanks for the help.

The fans for 1972 and 1973 with 454 and C-60 were the same (GM #3992095).

The 1974 fan for 454 and C-60 was different. It was GM #342715 an it did not have the "spiked" tips.

      Thanks Joe,
Do you know what the other number on the blade is for?

        It's the manufacturer's part/model number.

Joe. Thanks for the good info in the fans. I have a 74 BB A/C car and have been told the absence of a tip fan is wrong. Page 77 states the pat number for the BB A/C fan is 3992085 with the tips. After re-checking with the judging manual, the part number for the A/C small block and BB are the same in the chart in page 78 (342715) as you have stated. My fan has a flat top and a 1/2 inch notch missing on the back of the blade. I can not find the part number. Where is the number located? Also can the A/C fan clutch number in the manual be wrong. I think my fan clutch number is 27992863; could this be right? Thanks for your info.

It's possible that very early 1974 LS-4 with C-60 still used the 3992085. Otherwise, though, the 342715 was used for your application. The latter has the "notched" tips you described. Photos of a new GM #342715 are attached and no part numbers will be found on these assemblies. The 342715 is still available from GM for about 140 bucks, GM list.

The fan clutch used for your application was GM #343721.

thanks Joe. that is my fan, I appreciate your helping clarify the confusion in the judging manual.
