Can anyone tell me the difference between 66 and 69 front spindles? Aside from the obvious spindle diameter being different. I may have an issue with my spindle/hubs and I might want to upgrade to the heavier spindle when I restore the front suspension. Is the ride height or anything else different? How are people dealing with this problem? I see reconditioned spindles available. How about hubs? Is there any point deduction on a judged car if you change over? Is it even doable? Thanks for any info anyone can offer.

Re: C2/C3 front spindles/hubs
In addition to the larger bearings, the two bolts that attach the steering arm to the spindle on a '69 are larger diameter than on a '66; if you use the '69 spindles, you'll need '69 steering arms and two pairs of the larger steering arm-to-spindle bolts and nuts.- Top

There may very well be a slight difference in suspension geometry between the 1966 and 1969 spindles. To wit, the 1968 spindles used the same size spindle shaft as 63-67 but they were not the same spindles as 63-67. It is true that the 1968 spindles also used the 1/2" steering arm bolts (like 69-82) rather than the 7/16" bolts (like 63-67). That could have been the only difference between the 63-67 and 68 spindles. However, I don't think so; I think there was a geometric difference, however slight it might have been.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: C2/C3 front spindles/hubs
Ok. I have a pretty good handle on what I need. Spindles, hubs, bearings, steering arms and bolts, caliper mounts and dust shields. I'm assuming that the a-arms, tie rod ends, etc are the same. But, will my 66 wheels mount on the hubs? If not, will newer wheels and tires fit in my wheel wells? Any one know for sure if the geometry is the same or close enough to function the same?
I'm not racing this car, so if I choose to replace the 66 parts with 66 parts. What are my options? Reconditioned spindles are available as of now. How about hubs? I haven't gone crazy looking yet, but I haven't seen any either. Any sources?
Thanks for all the info so far. It's great to have such a knowledgeable group to throw questions out to.- Top

The wheels should fit with no problems. The a-arms and steering linkage are the same.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: C2/C3 front spindles/hubs
Thanks for the replies. I knew the bolt pattern was the same, I was wondering about the center opening. Since the spindle and bearings are bigger I thought maybe there was a chance the center hub was bigger as well. If I had to go to 69 and up wheels, they are wider.- Top
